Georgian Dolls House Cabinet C 1770

Based on the original ‘Throstlenest House’ this beautiful cabinet was built as an attractive piece of furniture, a focal point for any room setting or as a stand alone piece.  Made in mahogany with a fine Georgian façade containing six tiny rooms to furnish at your leisure.  From a prepared cutting list of timber (over 300 parts) each student will construct the cabinet and façade.  The quoined edges will be formed using wood blocks; the dentil moulding cornice will be applied.  The windows will be fitted with moulded surrounds; the columned moulded portico doorway will be assembled and applied.  The double door facade will be hinged to reveal and access the rooms.  A simple mahogany stand will be made and a finish will be applied.     Approx. size in miniature 145mm High x 90mm Wide x 47mm Deep.   Completion is likely in class, however a detailed booklet is provided to complete the piece at home if necessary. All tools and supplies will be provided however please feel free to bring your own small tool boxes and any optical equipment you may require.
