Workshop Location.​
Workshops are held at the Eye community Centre (Also known as Manor Farm community Centre).  This is situated on the High Street in the village of Eye, just outside Peterborough.



George III Oval Serving tray c 1790

EVENING WORKSHOP    27th  October

An essential addition to any traditional 18th century dining room setting.  The George III Oval Serving tray c 1790 made in mahogany with burr veneer top inlaid with a pearwood centre oval and a veneered gallery with brass carry handles. From a prepared cutting list each student will laminate the burr veneered tray base.  The segmented pearwood oval will be made and set into the tray. A veneer gallery will be glued and shaped around the completed oval base before drilling and fitting the brass carry handles.   Length 1 ¾ inches (45mm).  Completion is likely in class, a detailed booklet is provided should you prefer to finish at home.

George III Bowfront Sideboard C1780


2 DAY WORKSHOP    28th - 29th October


This George III Bowfront Sideboard C1780 made in mahogany with two deep side drawers and one curved centre drawer.  From a prepared cutting list each student would complete the tapered legs forming a spade toe on each, assemble the carcase and drawers, accurately burr veneering and crossbanding the drawer fronts before fitting brass hardware.   Completion is likely in class, a detailed booklet is provided should you prefer to finish at home.

Louis XVI Encoignure/Corner Cabinet

2-Day Class  September 20-21
9:00AM – 5:00PM

A beautiful example of Louis XVI furniture, this corner cabinet will be an elegant addition to any miniature setting. From a prepared cutting list of timber, each student will construct the basic cabinet, fitting a central shelf as well as veneering and banding the decorative sides and feet. The full height cabinet door has a false drawer front and an elaborate quarter veneered and banded door panel. Students will have the option of adding floral/music marquetry to the panel before hinging. The cabinet will be completed by shaping the marble top and applying the metal mounts.




George III Oval Serving Tray, Circa 1790

Evening-Class September 21

An essential addition to any traditional 18th century dining room setting is a lovely serving tray. Made in mahogany with burr veneer top inlaid with a pearwood centre oval and a veneered gallery with brass carry handles. The length is 1 3/4”.
All basic tools will be provided. Students may feel free to bring any small hand tools and optical equipment if required. It is likely that this project will be competed in class. A detailed booklet will be provided should students prefer to finish at home.


Louis XV Style Casket


1-Day Class September 22
9:00AM – 5:00PM
A small yet elegantly shaped example of Louis XV style, this casket, less than an inch long, will enhance many decorative situations, be it a desk box, jewel chest or as a stand along table cabinet.
Starting in class with a cutting list of prepared timber and brass, the mitered sides will be assembled to form the carcase. The lid's raised panel will be sanded to shape, and rails mitered around. Individual jigs will be made to produce decorative brass strips and detailed brass hardware shaped before fitting into place. A finish will be applied and the interior base lined in silk.
All basic tools will be provided, however, students may bring to class small hand tools and any required optical equipment. Completion is likely in class. A detailed booklet is provided should students wish to finish the project at home.
